Kong Hoi Kung Fu Association - Sil Lum Mountain is proud to teach the art of Lion Dancing in addition to Kung Fu to its
students. Lion Dancing is part of the traditions of Kung Fu and also provides a taste of the traditional Chinese culture to our students. There are many different stories relating to how Lion Dancing
began. The most popular story is about a mysterious beast that was eating the crops of a local town. The beast had not been seen before in the area, but witnesses said it looked like what the western world
might have called a Lion. Most town Doctors were also the local martial arts teachers and were called on for help in matters such as these. One master is said to have gotten his students to build a scary
costume in order to scare the Lion away. Only his top students were allowed to wear the Lion outfit. This was done in case the team had to fight the beast. The master wanted to be sure that they could handle
themselves. The plan worked and the Lion Dance evolved into a celebration for many different events.
At Kong Hoi Kung Fu Association - Sil Lum Mountain, we provide Lion Dances for community special
events, public association's events, International Days at high schools and the YMCA, weddings, grand openings, Chinese New Year's and other traditional Chinese holidays. Dances range from short and simple
to long and complex, like the famous "Crab vs. Lion" dance. A lion team can also be booked for events outside the Charlotte metro area. Our rates are reasonable and we would love to bring good luck to your
